Organisation overview

Grassroots rural development built through people's organisation.

Society for Upliftment of People with People's Organization & Rural Technology (SUPPORT) is a grassroots non-profit organisation working since 1998 for inclusive and sustainable rural development.

We work with women, farmers, children, youth, and marginalized communities to strengthen livelihoods, build local leadership, and promote self-help and collective action. Our key areas include women empowerment, agriculture, natural resource management, climate resilience, livelihoods, health, education, youth development, financial inclusion, skill development, research, and advocacy.

Through community-led initiatives and partnerships, SUPPORT enables people to build resilient, equitable, and sustainable futures.

Vision

Establishment of an educated, egalitarian, and socially just society based on equality, fraternity, and mutual help.

Mission

To organize and empower marginalized sections of society through self-help initiatives and enable them to manage their economic, social, and educational affairs in an ethical and sustainable manner.

SUPPORT works to build confident, community-led institutions that can carry economic, social, and educational progress with dignity, ethics, and long-term sustainability.

Journey

From people's organisation to community-led development

From its early focus on community organisation and self-help, SUPPORT has progressively expanded into women's collectives, sustainable livelihoods, education, healthcare, farmer support, natural resource management, and opportunities for youth and vulnerable communities.

1998

SUPPORT established in Hazaribagh

SUPPORT began with a commitment to work alongside rural communities and strengthen people's own capacities to address social and economic challenges.

2018

SUPPORT Public School begins at Mandu, Ramgarh

Current school content ties the start of SUPPORT Public School to 2018 as part of the organisation’s education work.

Present

Work across Jharkhand and Bihar

SUPPORT builds partnerships with communities, government institutions, CSR partners, financial institutions, and development stakeholders.

Community-led transformation

The journey continues with stronger community institutions, resilient livelihoods, and sustainable solutions for long-term social transformation.

Our approach

Community-led Institutions: We strengthen Self-Help Groups, federations, youth groups, farmer groups, and other community platforms to encourage collective action and local leadership.

Building Capacities: We invest in knowledge, skills, and leadership development so individuals and institutions can identify challenges, access opportunities, and manage their own development processes.

Sustainable Livelihoods: We support rural households to improve and diversify livelihoods through agriculture, livestock, enterprise development, skill development, and financial and market access.

Natural Resources & Climate Resilience: We promote responsible management of soil, water, and other natural resources while encouraging climate-resilient agricultural and livelihood practices.

Partnerships for Scale: We collaborate with government departments, CSR partners, financial institutions, development organisations, and other stakeholders to strengthen systems and widen impact.

Learning & Innovation: We continuously learn from field experiences and encourage practical, locally relevant solutions that respond to changing rural needs.

It gives me immense pleasure to state that SUPPORT in its entire tenure of working has shown a remarkable progress in the field of rural development and holistic community development.

Sometimes it becomes difficult to express the heartily views in words but I feel enough fortunate to thank grass root volunteers, the farmers, women, youth, member WSHGs, CRPs, including all key stakeholders who worked intensively giving hand holding support to attain the targeted interventions, being implemented in this financial year.
