Project narrative

The NABARD Tribal Lac Cultivation Project is designed to strengthen the socio-economic well-being of tribal communities through scientific lac cultivation and integrated natural resource-based livelihoods.

The project promotes improved plantation practices, sustainable host tree management, quality brood lac inoculation, integrated nutrient management, and climate-resilient production techniques. Beneficiaries are also supported with intercropping, horticulture, and diversified farming systems to create year-round livelihood opportunities.

Continuous technical training and capacity building help farmers adopt improved production practices, manage pests and diseases, and strengthen post-harvest management. Special emphasis is placed on women's empowerment, collective action, nursery development, and livelihood enterprises.

The project also promotes natural resource management, irrigation support, water-efficient technologies, and market-oriented interventions through community institutions and Farmer Producer Organizations.
