Project narrative
The Food, Nutrition and Income Enhancement Project focuses on empowering small and marginal women farmers by strengthening household food and nutrition security while creating sustainable income opportunities.
The programme promotes diversified farming systems through nutrition gardens, improved paddy cultivation, pulse production, backyard poultry, goat rearing, fruit orchards, multilayer vegetable cultivation, and integrated farming models.
Women farmers are supported through training, technical guidance, field demonstrations, and community-based extension systems. The project promotes sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, including organic farming, scientific crop management, low-cost technologies, and innovative cultivation methods such as trellis farming.
By strengthening women's collectives and Self-Help Groups, the programme promotes knowledge sharing, financial inclusion, collective action, and sustainable livelihood development.
